Course Outline: English for tour guides

English for tour guides helps you to confidently guide tours in English so that you can expand your opportunities to work in a wider range of places and with a wider range of visitors. 

Module 1

In this module you will learn the English that you need to interest and engage your tour group from the start by introducing yourself and your tour in an interactive way that leaves your group looking forward to your tour.

Module 3

In the third module you will develop the English skills that you need to engage your group in a story about a landmark or work of art by finding out what they already know about it, and asking thought-provoking questions. You will also learn to respond to their questions in English and offer advice.

Module 2

In the second module you will learn the English that you need to describe landmarks or works of art depending on the focus of your tours, add interesting details about them, and explain the history behind them in a way that raises the interest of your group.

Module 4

In the final module you will develop your ability to plan interactive tours in English without spending too long preparing, and to evaluate your tour so that you you can continue learning and improving your tours.

Real-life activity: Plan and prepare an English tour and evaluate it afterwards to make improvements to it.
